Here I am on March 15, 1953 at age 18 in one of the elephant cars.

Richard Reynolds said...: Photo was taken in Sarasota WQ, my first visit there. I was then a freshman at Emory Univ. When spring break came I wanted to go to Sarasota to see RBBB, but I had no auto.

However, Bernie Haight, my best buddy and frat brother, did have one. I talked up a trip to Sota. I explained that I had it on good authority that the girls were plentiful there (I really had no idea) and there would be no competition like in Daytona Beach with all those Univ/GA and GA Tech guys flooding the place.

And that's how I got to see RBBB in quarters. We went back in '54 and '55 as well.; 17 July, 2016 19:29
