Ernie Burch once told me that he had a contract with the Dailey Show but didn't have enough money to get from his home in New Jersey down to Gonzales, Texas so he called Ben Davenport who said, "I've got a Baggage Car of baby elephants being loaded right near you, find it and ride down with them." Ernie said accompanying them were a number of Mahouts (as seen above) and his job was to escort and order their food when they stopped to eat.
