Eddie was laying over from Howard Suesz's 1970 Waco, Texas date, and stayed with my family and I. One night as we jackpotted--and he had few equals with jackpots--Eddie suddenly pitched forward out of his chair and hit the deck in a full-out heart attack. There was no 911 then, and no paramedics. I hustled him into the car and got him to the ER. Our family heart doctor pulled him through, and Eddie became our guest for another 6 weeks. We were glad to have him, and eventually saw him fly off to fan friends in Illinois. At last, he was at home in Long Beach, California, when that last heart attack took him. Incidentally, the ID shown at the hospital had his spelling as Dullem.
Eddie was a good friend of my fathers, Allen "Buster" Odle. I remember Eddie being at our house quite a bit in the late 60's and if it was Halloween he only allowed us to have one piece of candy each day.
