Never was on the Carden Show but they must have liked this picture. Off subject, but I enjoyed watching the movie "Dinner At eight" last night and recalled John Herriott telling me that actor Edmund Lowe was a good friend of Gil Grey and would often drop by the Show's Winter Quarters in Dallas and he enjoyed listening to them cut up jackpots. |

Edmund Lowe was a fine actor who is probably best remembered for playing Sgt. Harry Quirt in the 1926 silent film WHAT PRICE GLORY. In that film, Lowe was pitted against Victor McLaglen, playing Capt. Flagg. (Lip readers had a field day following their salty on-screen arguments.) Lowe and McLaglen later had cameo roles together in Mike Todd’s AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS. Incidentally, Victor McLagen (who was of Scottish ancestry not Irish) was a professional prizefighter in his younger days. He also toured in circuses, vaudeville shows, and Wild West shows, often as a fighter challenging all comers. His tours took him to the US, Australia and South Africa.
