Beatty's companion is the decorous Leslie Brooks. She graduated from work as a cover girl in 1940, to a relatively short run as an actress. She retired from films in 1949, after a 2nd marriage. She is best remembered for her turn in the film noir BLONDE ICE. A simple publicity stunt put her here with Beatty, and a wire-walking lion he never used in his act. Ms. Brooks returned to the screen a last time in 1971. She died at 88, in Sherman Oaks, California, in 2011.
