When I first ran this picture I thought it was funny, now at 81 it's a bit melancholy. |

Just returned from Springfield, MO. While there I took a drive over to Miller, MO to visit Bobby and Rosa and I met one the officers of the cemetery assn. He was curious about the tombstone with elephants on it (the only one in the entire place). He's now got some trivia for the next board meeting.
JIM--I had not known about this. What was Bobby & Rosa's connection with Miller, MO?
Over the years, especially in the days of our late BILLBOARD, I noticed many of our showfolks were taken away and buried somewhere, and none of us knew why that particular place. Some were hometowns, and some, quite often, were simply towns where the death occurred.
Bobby's family (I'm thinking mother's side) had roots in Miller and that's where Bobby and Casey grew up. By the time Bobby was in high school the family had moved to Springfield (there home was next to my grand daughter's nursery school.) They lived there when I met Bobby in 1965 but soon moved to the Dallas area. The Gibbs still have family in Miller and that's where his parents are buried. Bobby and his parents rest in Sycamore Cemetery outside of Miller that you'll need GPS to find, at least the first time.
