Looks like some of those in the back and center with no make-up were working men or prop guys in costumes probably just for specs or web twirlers for the aerial ballet.
I agree with HAL. Some were shoved into a one-piece outfit, given a conical hat and a skull cap and told where to stand. Others are legends, as we find Lou Jacobs, Jack Le Claire, Chesty Polidor, Frankie Saluto, Felix Adler, to name a few of the real ones.
