A couple of the Herriot girls did this trick. In the mid-80's it was requested of me, but I was too chicken...
Pretty sure Katja Schuman did it on BAC some years back, in some sort of gown as I recall.
When John Ringling cut cat acts for the three seasons of 1925 through 1927, Mabel Stark raised hell, but he held her to her Generally Useful contract. She cursed these "damn three wasted years", but she honored her signature and performed well with Mr. John's horses. Her albums have shots of her in the waltz-and-rear in the lay-back, and she did the ascension horse aboard the great white steed, Jupiter--even taking this act to the Olympia for Bertram Mills.
In the mid 60s I believe the
3 ring dressage display with
all women in white including
Ingeborg Rhodin Rusty Parent
& Marion Seiferth all finished
with just such a routine
I was visiting RBBB the night Rusty and Unus got into it. Rusty was off the show in short order.
Ada Castello was immortalized
doing the "Waltz and Rear" on
"Jupiter" as shown in an RBBB
pictorial 1 sheet (as shown)
I've sent it to Buckles
