From Don Covington

Merrylu Casselly of the Casselly family of German elephant trainers wed Joseph Richter, Jr., the director of the Hungarian State Circus in a ceremony on Valentine's Day in Budapest.  Following the ceremony, the happy couple paraded through the streets of Budapest on the Casselly's elephant Mambo.

My father insisted we return immediately after the ceremony for elephant practice!

me a note about this photo asking

about the Richters & I replied that

I think this is the grandson of the

Joseph Richter that was the head of

the troupe we had on our tour & of

the Magyar Nemzeti Cirkusz in Hungary

The young groom in the picture is Joseph Richter, Jr. --- son of Joseph Sr, who toured the U.S., and brother of Florian, a star in his own right. The family has a wonderful website, complete with a detailed family history: magyarnemzetcirkusz.hu
Last time I looked, it even had a video of Joseph Junior and his future wife presenting their unique roman post act --- with two giraffes!

Since our tour started in early 79

(a mere 37 years ago) this groom

doesn't appear old enough to be

of that generation & I would guess

that the Joseph Jr I knew would be

about 60 or so

Chic, check the Magyar Nemzet website. It's the official Richter website. It's in Hungarian, but it has an easy-to-use TRANSLATE button. The website, under family history, says Richter Josef (Sr) (translation: Joseph, Sr.) married Carola in 1972.
Joseph, Sr. (the guy who toured the US in the late 70s) and Carola have a son named Florian, born November 18, 1977. They also have a son, named Joseph, Jr., born April 7, 1992. (He's the groom in the wedding picture.) Website also says Joseph, Sr. gave the job of director of the Hungarian National Circus to his son Joseph, Jr. in 2012. Also,it takes a little time searching YouTube, but there are a lot of terrific videos of Joseph, Sr., of Florian, and of Joseph, Jr.
