You got to see Dickie Moore in person,WOW
Sergent York is a great film and WArner Bros knows how to do it up right, just caught part of an interview with Dickie and he said Cooper was like a father to him and taught him how to throw a knife and make it stick in wood.
Walter Brennan also was great to Dickie.
Now Jackie Cooper told the story he did not have a Dad and tried to get Wallace Berry to be like one to him and Berry wanted no part of that at all.
So Berry in my movie star ranking is way way down on my list.
Harry in Texas
Well, you should read what Gloria Swanson wrote about Berry in her book "Swanson on Swanson".
By the way, that's his wife Jane Powell.
Beery, his correct name, won his Oscar for that picture with Jackie Cooper, THE CHAMP (Paramount, 1931). In an emotional scene, Jackie, who was a small boy then, threw his arms around Beery for the finish. At "Cut!", Beery angrily threw him off. Beery was known as crass, totally lacking in any social decency. He brutally committed marital rape with Gloria Swanson on their wedding night, and later, when he found she was pregnant, tricked her into swallowing a concoction that made her lose the child. He won his Oscar for THE CHAMP, sharing the honor for the '31-'32 season with Fredric March, who won for DR. JECKYLL AND MR. HYDE. March, quite conversely, was revered as one of Hollywood's most respected gentlemen.
