The indelible Bumpsy Anthony. George Anthony Hulme was born on January 22, 1900, in Boston. His makeup departed from any expected genre, and was ideal for his narrow face and long neck. His career history included all the major circus titles for over six decades. He had married one of the Hanna sisters. I last saw him at a fair in Texas, on Gene Ledel's carnival. He retired sometime in 1986. In his last years, he lived alone at the Seahorse Mobile Home park, in Saint Augustine, Florida, placing notices in the circus press for letters and visitors. He died of complications of a stroke on January 12, 1989, ten days before his 89th birthday.
