I got my Draft Notice early in 1957 and my Folks had the elephants booked with Jack Moore's Carson & Barnes Circus so I spent the early part of the season with the Ringling Show working for Hugo Schmitt then I was contacted by Paul Kelly to take three elephants to Canada with Garden Bros. Circus where I first met Ian. Here am I with three long time Cole Show elephants "Nellie", "Wilma" and "Jennie" almost performing an "Oblique". "Nellie" was always easy to spot in a herd, had a wart over her right eye, nice elephant. |

Buckles, who was in charge of the elephant on Carson & Barnes in 1959? The show was in Traverse City August 18th of that year. I am sure I went to it, but I don't remember much about it. There was a circus that came to Traverse City around that time that had either Colonel Tim McCoy or Sky King as an added attraction.
It was still Kelly-Miller in 1959 and Fred Logan was in charge of the elephants.
Wasn't Frank Daly the elephant
superintendent on Garden Bros
I remember Frank, good man.
One of Rex Williams' guys.
