In the early '80's I rescued this steel ball from the equipment graveyard behind the horse barn and put one of my tigers on it. I'm sure it's the same ball. I wonder if it's still around Hugo someplace? I also wonder when this ball was built, and by whom.

More than likely the ball was built at Wayne Sieguin's(spelling) shop in Hugo, sometime during the 1950's or early 1960's.

My father trained "Anna May" on a wooden globe that he found out back which the Prop Crew promptly demolished by tossing it out of the truck when unloading.
D.R. said, "I'll solve that problem!" and had Wayne Sanguin make one out of steel by having the County Surveyor mark out a design on a sheet of steel and assembling it like the skin on an orange and said, "Let's see you break this up!"

Thanks, Armando and Buckles for answering my questions about the ball! I'll bet the baby elephants have quite a party playing with it. When I found it, it was tightly wedged underneath an old trailer which read "Blood Sweating Hippopotamus". It was quite an undertaking to dig a trench to extract it, but I was determined. Glad the ball is still in Hugo
