Matthew Scott was a great man at this point but while going thru Barnum route books at the Baraboo Library, I found him listed as "Keeper Of Dog Wagon" after "Jumbo's" death, how the Mighty Have Fallen. Like when my wife tells me to sweep behind the couch. |

he also got to look after other animals in some of the other yearbooks - in fact he seemed almost a bit of an embarrassment after 'Jumbo' died. Didn't he die a sad death?
Fred Neill
He spent time sitting by and protecting the stuffed Jumbo at the museum at Tuft's University that was named for Barnum. I read that he became an alcoholic (he already was a pretty heavy drinker) and just disappeared. I don't think anyone knows the end of his story for certain.
Jumbo will become the 1st animal inducted
into the Circus Ring Of Fame this afternoon
at the Circle on St Armands Key in Sarasota
Herta Klauser Cuneo has sponsored him
Chic,
Nonsense!!!! Suggest to Ms. Klauser Cuneo that she need's to sponsor Baghera(Baggy) the world's first performing White Tiger or at the least Tony, who is genetically responsible for the world's white tiger population today. I have a picture someplace of the grand lady changing my one year old son Adam's diaper. She crumbled a cookie on the table and had him stand up and pull pieces into his mouth. She pulled the dirty diaper down, closed the tab's on a clean diaper, then pulled it up. That's how she put pant's on the bear's most of her life, so she stayed with her comfort zone and did what she did best. :)
Wade Burck
It all went wonderfully today Roger
As a surprise ending Patti Zerbini
brought her stunning big ivoried
male Luke to unveil Jumbo's plaque
He had the entire crowd entranced
My vote for the 1st big cat to be honored
Wade would be Kismet but I'm prejudiced
since I built her 1st mirrored ball
