My father died in 1963 but we had a contract for the '64 NY Worlds Fair after which the act was dissolved. "Lydia" and "Sadie" went to Carson & Barnes and D.R. Miller was considerate enough to let my wife and I have "Anna May". "Lydia" was around quite a while, in my last listing in 1995 she was owned by Dave Tesch.
After my Father passed away I was summoned into D.R.'s office who explained that he had bank rolled the Miller-Woodcock elephant act for my Mother and Father well aware that he wouldn't make a dime but simply because he liked them.......adding that he didn't think much of me and changes would have to be made. The final upshot was he settled for "Lydia" and "Sadie" and let us have "Anna May" which is all I wanted anyway and even loaned a truck to take her to Florida for which I will be eternally grateful.

Buxkles, Did Lydia die while you owned her? How old was she when she passed?
Thanks

I doubt she would be alive today
She would be over 70 years old
The last record I can find for Lydia
was from the York Zoo in Maine from
2003 when she would have been 59 or 60
She was likely about 21 or 22
at the NY World's Fair in 64
Lydia passed away on the Tesch property in Florida in the summer of 2013.
Buckles, did The Colonel not own Anna May? You say D.R. Miller let you and Barbara have Anna May..how all that happen?

I might add that when we opened with the Ringling Show in 1978, both D.R. and David Rawls were right there to wish us well!
Great story..
