Ted would have been 9 or 10 in 63
So this scenario doesn't quite work
I also think Maude was still
with the Beatty herd in 63
Could this have been 73
He would have been like 10 in 1963?
Dave Mullaney had the elephants on the 1963 Sells & Gray. I believe it was Bessie from the Norma act and the original Anna May.
We had Maude with us on Beatty-Cole in '81, but she wasn't in the act. I used to sit with the elephants and watch pro football while Freddie and his guys went in to work the show. One night while they were gone, Maude casually pulled her stake and roamed over to look in on the game. I didn't want to tell Freddie's elephants what to do, but said, "Steady, Maude", and at least she didn't exit the tent. She put her trunk around my shoulders and kept me company until Freddie brought the herd back, and re-drove her stake.
I think it was in 63 or 64 that
Sid went from the Beatty herd to
either King or Sells & Gray
Maude was Irish's favorite as I recall.
What a great memory to have Roger
Aww yeah, Ted (my uncle) was born in 1954...
So something must be off, but it does look like him, well the hair anyway ;) I love coming across pictures of him though for real... I think Im nearly the last to have the name at this point
