None of those puny 8 to 10
pound kiddie sledges but a
real man's 13 (thanks Shaz)
A blog commentator earlier mentioned the guy straddling two African elephants with a giraffe running beneath his legs. That act is performed by Jozeph Richter on the Hungarian Magyar Nemzeti Cirkusz. This photo shows him with the addition of a female performer.
Thanks Richard
Alexia Casselly did a similar
Roman Ride with a horse between
When I took the Jungleland Fighting Lions on the road, we guyed out the cage. I was accepting the philosophy about the sledge, "If I have to hit a stake, I don't want to hit it too many times." So I got a line on a 20-lb. sledge down in L.A., and was about to send for it. Benny Bennett sidled up, advising otherwise. "Sure you can swing a 20-pounder. But save your shoulder for cracking your whip. Don't work harder, work smarter." I kept my 16-pounder. Thank God for our teachers, older and wiser. Shannon is working smarter.
Thanks Roger for reminding me

That 13 was for really soft lots
