I was accepting the philosophy about the sledge, "If I have to hit a stake, I don't want to hit it too many times." So I got a line on a 20-lb. sledge down in L.A., and was about to send for it. Benny Bennett sidled up, advising otherwise. "Sure you can swing a 20-pounder. But save your shoulder for cracking your whip. Don't work harder, work smarter." I kept my 16-pounder.
