Trevor Bale on Ringling, early '60s. If we get other shots of this Art Concello arena, we'll see the sections were bibled--two sections joined by hinges, allowing them to be stood up,opened like a book, then each of these connected by dropping pins through grommets. As we know, Concello disdained cat acts because his sense of moving the show quickly was wrankled by handling the cage. We also see that in a 40-foot ring, this arena sat well inside, giving the act at most a 32-foot diameter cage.
I had the pleasure of first knowing Col. Bale when he was on Ringling were he and Doc could always be found playing card between shows and later I worked with him on Hunt Bros. He had a great history as a trainer. Horses were one of his specialties. He was always willing to help you and cut up jackpots.
