Were Jimmy Ray's opponents usually one of the workers on the show, or would they really pick someone from the audience?
Jimmy was on Adams Bros in 1959.
No he was a stick.
Forget his name, nice looking young guy who when asked by the announcer (Col. Harry Thomas) about his qualifications he would reply he was a former Marine just back from the Pacific, to the delight of the audience, then a debate if the Marine should be allowed to use Ju-Jitsu with another affirmative reaction.......
I've got a 1947 Route book, I'll have to check this out.
On King Bros-Cristiani, Red Dingler (Aerial Bars) was the stick in the aftershow. He also used that same spiel about being a former Marine...And Col. Harry Thomas was also the announcer on King-Cristiani. Maybe that is who taught Red Dinger the spiel.
