Printed by Triangle in Pittsburgh and used in the early forties by Beatty. Same image also used to advertise Ernest Engerer and Terrell Jacobs, maybe others.

This pose came from a famous photo by Robert D. Good, Sr. It was shot at the Clyde Beatty Jungle Zoo, in Ft. Lauderdale, and as expected, involved other animals in their original poses. It appears in Beatty's last book, FACING THE BIG CATS (Garden City NY, Doubleday, 1965)

Mr Good didn't take that picture; Beatty credited it to him as a courtesy because of their long friendship. Sorry, Roger.

When we get a caption-credit in a published book, we're left with no other reference point.

This shot of Beatty in the circle is the one I find close in resemblance to the late character actor Warren Oates.
