I have told the story many times of my entrepreneurial days when I would ask the town kids on the lot in the morning, "Give me a nickle and I'll show which trailer the Lone Ranger lives in!"

Buckles, did he ever figure out your enterprise?
When OZZIE & HARRIETT moved into early TV from their radio success, Parley Baer played their nettlesome next-door neighbor, Darby, for 6 seasons. The Nelsons and Parley & Ernestine were all congenial people, and became fast friends. Even on radio, David and Ricky (then Little Ricky) were stand-out stars. Several times, the Nelsons came over for dinner, and the Baer's neighbors noticed. So Kim, the eldest daughter, charged her friends a nickel to sit in the dining room chairs where David and Ricky sat. One day, she proudly showed Parley a big jar full of nickels. When she revealed the source of this wealth, Parley was apoplexic with embarrassment and anger. Kim had to return every coin, as Parley prayed the Nelsons never found out.
Another event was when I wandered off the lot to find kids to play with and managed to get run over by a car. Despite passing over the top of me I escaped unscathed.
Many times my father rehashed this story about having his ass chewed out by a Police Chief while I sat on his desk eating an ice cream cone that concluded with, "Mr. Lee! are you going to continue with this sort of neglect? and he replied, "My name is William Woodcock." and I piped up".....yes and my name is Buck Lee!"
