Can't remember the year but Carson & Barnes was playing nearby and a bunch of us from Baraboo went over to watch the set up.

It was 5or6 when they played Brooksville, Buckles!
Isn't that called "A Busman's Holiday"
Buckles,
Perhaps you or some of the blog regulars, or irregulars for that matter, could help me out. I was at a auction in Michigan yesterday and they were auctioning a chair that they said is elephant hide. It is tanned so looks somewhat like your typical brown cow hide leather but thicker. The maker tooled some decorative elephant images in the leather. I am pretty sure it was originally from Asia. I am curious about the hide. I have no idea what tanned elephant hide should look like and I am wondering if there is some way I might be able to confirm if, in fact, it is elephant hide. I realize most of us on the blog are much more interested in hides that are still walking/performing but perhaps you or a blog reader could help.
Thanks,
Jeff
That should read 5or6 years ago.
Jeff, Wish I had known about that Auction. I am
in Mich. And would have been there. I DOUGHT
If it were an Elephant Skin. Perhaps, but very doughtful.
Jim, where in Michigan are you? I am near Greenville. Some way to connect?
Elephant hide is very distinctive(I have 3 pairs of boots made out of pre-African hide) and different from smooth cowhide, which will accept dyeing and carving/tooling.
