For a time, after Mr. Beatty left to recover from his surgery, I got another $2 for cherry pie. I had this guy's job. As you see, he's at the eaves, having (hopefully) come down the lacing behind him. This is fairly safe for your descent, but if you try to short cut by walking down open canvas, you can tear through and take the fall you deserve. I was up there dropping blocks from the bale rings under the direction of John Schweitzer. I walked the aummit lacing between the 4 poles. I had seen another guy squeeze between the bale ring and the pole and slide down. I did it once. Tommy Clarke quickly explained if the wind picked up, and the top swelled, I could be cut in half as the bale ring clanged into the pole. From that night on, I walked down the back end lacing.

The truck @ L is 76. It carried the steel arena and tunnel and pulled the Bandstand.
