The Adam Smasher was a creation of producing clown Paul Jung. By coincidence, I was just at a site which detailed his death on April 21, 1965, at the Forest Hotel. RBB was in its Garden run, and Jung did not arrive for an early matinee. A call was made, and a bellboy discovered his body. Many know this story, and full coverage is readily available. It was a murder, and there were two convictions.
Odd to notice, the clown at L is an approximation of Paul Jerome's whiteface, and the tramp clown with the Janitor tag on his hat is a try at Jerome's tramp makeup. They're not more than very loose depictions. The other clown figures in Paul Jung's Adam Smasher act are not representative of any RB performers. This artist blew his shot at drawing the clowns as they were.
