Point of interest.

Someone wrote on the back:

"Al G. Barnes grave site.
Indio, California."

Seems I recall that a permanent marker has been erected.

I live not far from the cemetery Barnes is interred at.There is a very small above ground headstone that has his name, the inscription, "Master Showman" and the years (1862-1031)

Great Jeff! Could you possibly get a photo to Buckles? My scant Googling showed no marker for Al G. , but several spots showed the one for Eva Speed Donohoo.

Hi Paul, I said it is a above ground headstone. I misspoke - I guess that happens with age. It is actually like most in the desert, flush to the ground. Here is a link with a picture of the headstone.

I'm looking for my photos--quite small--of Mr. Barnes' funeral. There were thousands in attendance, and an extensive cortege of period limos, in a gathering reminiscent of Valentino's funeral. I have the full-page coverage also, but it won't scan very well for posting.
