TOMMY THE BRONX  2ND AND LAST PIC

Lots & lots of kids having a grand time. Notice the little girl in the lower left
touching his tusk, bet she'll never forget that moment.

Buckles- Thank you so much for this blog. It is an education in itself. I can relate to the girl touching Tommy's tusk. In the early '60s a circus played my hometown of Waterloo, Iowa. I was about 10 years old. In that show was a male Asian that had long ivory that grew together at the tips. It was a solid perch as the show opened with an Empress standing on the point where the tusks came together as the bull circled the ring. Before the show we went through the Menagerie tent and could walk right up to the elephant picket line. I reached across the rope and put my hand on the bull's tusk. To this day I remember how smooth it was and how warm. Would you know the name of this elephant and what became of him?

An observation and I would welcome your comment on Tommy's trunk. In some photos of him in his later years his trunk looks small relative to his body size. Anything to this?

Thank you again,
