I was the first one to do mounts on Tommy. Once we had a beautiful grassy lot, which was great usually. BUT my boots did not have proper soles on the bottom for mounts. So the grass made them VERY SLIPPERY. I had to jump upon the spindle, (as I had to then jump up onto "Tommy's" tusks.) Well I slipped, and his tusk went up the leg of my costume, and came out the butt of my costume. I was hanging there like a piece shish kabob. AND "REX" WAS A TERRIFIC ELEPHANT TRAINER. AND NEVER LET AN ELEPHANT CHEAT ON ANY TRICKS. HE TURNED THREE TIMES. With me hanging by the seat of my pants. He thought it was funny. And now it is. But at the time I was very embarrassed. As the saying goes "What and give up Circus?" LOL.....Barbara.....

I believe Barbara once mentioned
that her legs were badly sunburned
Were these the Norma 5
The Norma five were all females and none showed Ivory when Barbara worked them.
My wife says these are "Tex", "Nellie", "Tommy", "Calcutta" and "Mysore" with Diano Bros. in 1953.
She added that her legs were sun burned from the Diano Bros. daily street parade.

It would appear I have created something of a monster here!
My wife is telling more interesting stories than I am!
Being a good facilitator and moderator can be as entertaining as the story teller. Like Carson was.
