To steady himself, the
bewildered tiger made a reach for the bars of the arena and once he had a firm
grip on them he started climbing. If he reached the top it would not be
difficult to rip the safety net aside and jump down into the section where the
audience sat. [None of this appears in the
kinescope footage that is included in the Sullivan
retrospective.]

We have to remember, most of what we read in FACING THE BIG CATS was written by Edward Anthony. I liked the book for the photos, some of which were shot just before my time there, but I found Anthony's writing awkward, far too repetitive in certain phrases, and in too many places, on a junior high school level. If he enhanced Singapore's excitement, he was lapsing again into his efforts to pad the action.
Thank you, ERIC. Great job in bringing us these images, which frankly, I believe only you could have managed. One day, I pray to see the action on this kinescope.
