Cindy Potter can tell us

who was in this cage

Ned Potter oversees the hook-up. Pete is the elephant who drew the duty. That may be Walter Logan with the elephant harness. Hoover's cage wagons varied in length. He had a list of them by number, accordingly, for the loading order. On soft lots, we had hell trying to get the next specific cage in place for Pete to haul it up. In the days before Hoover demanded an elephant for the job, Ned told me he hand-cranked the cages up the runs by means of a winch system on the side of 78.

Yes, Ned recalls the winch system!!!
I'm pretty sure Calcutta was in #10, but this pic is before my time, so who knows.

P.S.
That is not Walter.
Could have been another cageman, at the time.
