1948 Dailey Bros. #6

Ernie Burch once told me that he had a Dailey Show contract for the 1948 season but didn't have enough money to get from his home in New Jersey to winter quarters in Gonzales, Texas so he called Ben Davenport who explained he had a shipment of elephants arriving close to him and he could ride with them in the Baggage Car. Ernie said he had the job of escorting the Mahouts and added that when they got down South they were a sensation in the segregated restaurants everyone wanting to know why they talked so funny.
