She's riding side saddle. I'm not the horse expert, but I'm assuming a stirrup is still utilized. None the less, this is a terrific trick and a great photo.
The "rear and lay-back". Mabel Stark did this in her Generally Useful days, the Barnes show. Her mount was the stallion Black Knight, and her teacher was Robert Thornton.
