Chappie's Masterpiece was inspiring the Circus World Museum in Baraboo.
John Herriott was anxious for us to see the place so after playing the Minneapolis date in 1963 I talked my folks into stopping by.
When we arrived a performance was underway and was instructed to go to an area in back where we could unload.
Just as my father and I started taking things out a man came up yelling, "What the Hell's going on here! You just cant't come in and take over like you owned the place!" and my father said, "Let's Go!"
We were back on the Interstate heading South when this car zoomed past us with people waving their arms and we pulled over, it was Chappie and John Herriot still in his Ringmaster wardrobe.
Seems like we had been rousted by Wilbur Deppe and after receiving profuse apologies we turned around and went back in what turned out to be several days of my father poring over and identifying things in the Museum's vast collection.

To the left of John is Jorgen Christensen and his wife Edna. Jorgen was one of John's mentors and was famous for his 24 liberty act on Ringling in the 20's.
I am sure others may want to ID some of the others.
As a young kid I went with our family to Baraboo before there was a museum. John Kelly predicted it and my Dad said it was just a pipe dream. Some pipe dream. I still remember Kelly and his pipe. Bill Kasiska was around in those days as well and he gave us a historical visit of Baraboo as no other could have done.

Next to John & MaryRuth are Julie
& Mauricio Droguette
Great story. This might have been his last chance to see CWM, also their last chance to have him visit and identify things and tell his great stories.
Paul Luckey is the first in line and third is Deacon Blanchfield. The Deacon probably forgot more about circus than all of us know, but I could be wrong. My Dad had a lot of respect for the Deacon as did many others.
