A few months ago, Buckles posted some frame enlargements
from the 1935 film Annie Oakley, which recreated Buffalo
Bill’s Wild West Show with amazing attention to detail. A more recent
recreation of Buffalo Bill’s show can be seen in the 2004 film
Hidalgo. Although there
are only a few brief glimpses of the performance, they do manage to suggest
something of what Bill’s show must have been like.
