Pat Anthony apprenticed on the old Stage Arena in the era ahead of mine. He was mentored under the GI Bill by John C. "Chubby" Guilfoyle, who was the 2nd man to instruct Clyde Beatty. Pat left Thousand Oaks in 1953, to strike out on his own as a polished trainer. The fabled Bill Johnston went with him, and is credited with moving and maintaining Anthony's act for 17 seasons.
