Hoover was at Beatty's short-lived Jungleland, in North Miami. I'm wondering if this is it. The place ran during parts of 1960 and '61, and never took hold. But it was there long enough for John Wayne to visit, seeking part of his financing for HATARI. Wayne had lost his shirt making THE ALAMO, and was trying to survive. Beatty didn't buy in, but allowed the use of his name in the script. When Red Buttons grabbed a chair to protect Capucine from a gentle cheetah, Wayne shows up asking, "Hey, what's this Clyde Beatty routine?"
