No's 1&3 Lew Bader and Otis Jones later played for Merle Evans.
The tuba player was Eddie Doman, playing while attending College.
We would chat a good bit and he told me that the worst thing about the tuba was you only get one shot, if it's the wrong note it's there before God and everybody.
Whereas with other instruments they could quickly slide off and get back in harmony.
At the time I thought it a great lesson in life.
I was 14 at the time and a pretty good sized lad.
By this time I was a high-steppin' candy butcher working for the A&E Concession Co. Laura Anderson and Frank Ellis.
This was the season I first met the the Silverlakes.
Franklin and I were buddies and Jimmy was just a little kid following us around.
