"Siam" #2

"Siam" arrived among a shipment of 20 baby elephants delivered to the show in 1954.
I stopped keeping records in 1996 and have no info on her final days.

I am puzzled by the 1978-79 entry. I don't recall having her at Circus World, maybe she was sick and off the road for a while.
Any of you guys remember this?

She came in with Axel's herd. Was one of the "lead" elephants in that group. She also worked the elephant ride. She did some solo stuff (from where I was, I equated her role being like Anna May--but not as talented)

That was to prevent any jealosy of

her not being the lead during your

2 years with Blue which might have

been a wise decision that she was

kept with her teammates (besides

you had all you needed pal)

Siam died up in Polk City in June

of 2011 at the age of 60 which

would have made her about 3 when

she was imported but I have no

idea when she stopped performing

If she came over in 54 who would

have been her 1st (or 2nd) tutor

She was virtually untrained until Hugo Schmitt rejoined the show in 1957 and put together a seven-act in the center ring for the show's first tour indoors.
"Siam", "Calcutta", "Betty", "Suzanne", "Jewel", "Diamond" (African) and "Jeanie".
