Riddle Sanctuary #3

This is my long time elephant "Peggy" an excellent worker.
She arrived in Baraboo in 1963 along with another small elephant that Chappie Fox wanted to name "Topsy" and "Turvy" but Johnny Herriott quickly changed the latter to "Eva".
She remained there thru 1969 when Circus World Museum sold John and Mary Ruth, the three elephants and twelve ponies to Irvin Feld.
Years later in 1982, while visiting the Red Show in Lakeland, Gunther offered me a free elephant (Eva) and being within my price range, I accepted and picked her up the following week in Tallahassee then immediately renamed her "Peggy" after after my wife's sister.
We traveled up and down the highways together for over 20 years until our retirements, mine in Ruskin and hers at the Riddle Sanctuary.

How hard is it to get an elephant to respond to a new name? How do you go about it?

I've changed a few names over the years and they pick it up in a day or two through their normal activities.
Elephants are pretty smart.
