The helicopter crash in the current news reminds me of my dear friend Jimmy Rossi (second from right) who repeated to me how dangerous they were.
He told me when he graduated from American Airlines Flight School he was informed that the ceremony to receive their Flight Wings would be held in Wash. D.C. and the class would be flown down there by helicopter.
He told them if it meant riding in one of those things they could keep the Wings.
Final upshot was he rode there in a limousine with some of the Officers and the irony being he ultimately died in an air plane crash.
This was a Dailey Bros. Circus reunion, I was allowed in by proxy but had to stand in the background. Smokey, Barbara, Ward, Duke, Charlie, Rex, Norma, Jimmy and Donna. |
