I asked Fred Logan about this picture once and he said the clown was Arnie Honkola that had once worked in the Elephant Dept. Kenny Dodd also mentioned him to me.
Logan added that got $5 a week from the Electrical Dept. for using "Ruth" each morning to dig furrows with a plow to bury light cable.

Can't recall the year, but in the '60s--I was visiting the Ringling show when next season's contracts were being handed around, and the sad whispers circulated that Arne "Red" Honkola didn't get one.
Anyone know who the stilt-walker clown in the background is?
