Welcome to Buckles Blog. This site is for the discussion of Circus History all over the world.
What was that dark car up right Was this likely pre 56
This would be Sarasota in mid-1960 when the show returned to the rails with the tunnel car operation. When it left Sarasota that year by railroad (for a long haul to Omaha), it would never go back. It went to Venice instead
Hi Richard I just returned from the Beefy Brunch Bunch in Ruskin where you were spoken of in the highest regards & we all welcome learning the details you provide My time with Big Bertha started in Venice so many thanks
Did all of their cars leave the old quarters in 60 & if so where did they put them all as there was little extra track in Venice I believe the 65 train was down to about 17 cars
I know Art's & Rudy Bundy's cars went to a spur across from SRQ (our airport) for years before Art bought the old Weyerhouser property with trackage off 17th where they remained until they were broken up & taken away as scrap about 10 years ago
During the early Venice years there were a few cars kept near the Venice station & several kept a few miles South of it & maybe that's when they started the shop in Palmetto with some track
When they pulled Hickory Creek off the Blue train (maybe in 78) it stayed in Venice a few years before it was sold to the Jersey club that restored it beautifully It is now in Private Varnish & can be rented for vast sums
