We had a great time last night cutting up jackpots with a lot of old friends.
Evening was concluded by a Magic Lantern Show with Bill explaining the inner workings of the front end of today's The Greatest Show On Earth and a detailed description of the Feld's evolution from selling phonograph records to becoming the major arena entertainment providers in the world. Shannon particularly enjoyed the info on today's sophisticated technology involved in routing their numerous enterprises.

The clown, fairly well depicted, is Pat Valdo, not long before John Ringling made him Personnel Director, gave him a raise, and told him to handle the job as he--Valdo--saw fit. His manner was so well-suited that in meeting deluges of demands from performers, he often had to say "no" in so engaging a style that he never had an enemy--a reputation he shared with another top staffer, Merle Evans.
