As you can see, Bobo was a big fella. We had him on Castle for the bigger dates, and he went over so well, he all but stopped the show. His applause went on so long, Cleo Plunkett went nuts trying to whistle in the next act. Now, here's a question for clown historians, and I don't know the answer: Whose car was smallest, Bobo's, or Lou Jacobs's??
In one Hollywood history, there's a photo of Rhonda being outfitted by Edith Head. The contract was noticeable. Rhonda was more glamorous than seen here--statuesque, with streams of luxurious flaming red hair, and the voluptuous contours of the quintessential screen goddess. Dressing her was Edith, short, rather severe-looking, with closed-cropped dyed black hair, and a stern demeanor. Those were the differences. Rhonda had it all in looks, but Edith Head had 8 Oscars.
I think Lou's was smaller. I handled Bobo's car for years and always thought it was a little bigger than Lou's as i only saw it on the Ringling show when i would catch the show.
If you are ever in the Baraboo, WI area, come visit us at the International Clown Hall of Fame and Research Center. We have Bobo's little car there on display, as well as his wardrobe. He actually was larger than Lou, and a very tight fit into that little car! I understand he would never let anyone see how he got himself into it.
Hi Chic~ No, we are a separate entity from Circus World Museum. Though we do have a fairly close relationship with them. We are located in the heart of downtown Baraboo (a couple of doors down from the historic Al Ringling Theater).

Lou had either 3 or 4 versions of
his tiny car & all of them were
smaller than Bobo's but although
Lou was quite tall he wasn't the
girth or bulk of Chester
