Train wreck was on Jan. 13 and here am I four days later.
The entry in that evening's journal read:
"Monday, Jan 17
Enroute to Daytona Beach
Have small state room
Water stop in Jacksonville
Walter and Fred Logan on hand at arrival."
Small state room was an under statement, had to step out into the aisle to change my mind.
Shower and doniker was down at the end of the car.

Should have demanded a private car
I remember thinking at the time, "Who routed this train from Orlando to Daytona Beach by way of Jacksonville?"
That would have been CSX using
the least freight traveled track
(bargain rail routing)
CSX routes the 2 Amtrak trains
from NY to Miami inland in Fla
from Jacksonville to West Palm
avoiding the rest of the coast
due to freight traffic
