In Mabel's albums, she dates the photo as 1923, when she was on RBBB. The cats are the black jaguar, Nigger--yes, that was his name. To the right is the tiger Sands, named for Al Sands, the man who actually hired Mabel onto the Barnes show. On the ground is King, the first tiger Mabel ever saw, who provided her epiphany moment. She was in Barnes Circus City, in Venice, California, and by chance found herself face-to-face with him, and said she knew then tigers would be her life. She joined out on October 12, 1911.
