After stepping across with her front legs, the elephant would drop down into a "cross cover" then arise and continue on, stepping across with her hind legs.
This is my mother practicing with "Christy" in 1948 with Big Bob Stevens' Robbins Bros.
"Christy" was the original leader in the act later owned by Oscar Cristiani.
