Bill Woodcock #8

"Cole & Walters Circus 1953
"Jess", "Daisy", "Mabel", "Norma", Anna May", "Fanny" and "Lydia"

Now with the financial backing of D.R. Miller the Miller-Woodcock elephant act was formed and a contract with Siebrand Bros. Shows, my folks broke in the act with Herb Walters' Cole & Walters Circus.

By the time I worked for Cole & Walters, the three elephants over there were Jessie, Myrtle and Norma Jean.

Wasn't Vic the one who had to be put down after a bad truck wreck? Mabel was with Carson and Barnes when I worked for Jack Moore.

Yes. "Victoria" crawled out of the wreck and took off.
She was in such a state that when Corky Clark caught her, she downed him and busted him up pretty good, then a Highway Patrolman shot her.
I remember she was always a little goofy, you had to be careful coming up along side her from behind because she might startle and bump into you. Logan said she was cross eyed and had blind spots.
Whatever it was some of the hands stayed away from her.
Very ugly, we called her "Lop-Eared Vic".
