Movie Premier Publicity!
Peggy and Opal. These footprints were not permanent. I forget the theater, but
Buckles probably knows.
"Alas" No!......."Opal" sure looks tiny, no doubt taken in 1953 at while the Besalou elephants were in training."

I looked it up. 'Mogambo' on October 8, 1953 in Los Angeles, California, Egyptian Theater. Have an article but Peggy and Mack were very bad about noting dates and places. You know, "I thought that I'd remember!"
I think that's Louis Stern in the other picture.
Looks like the sign on "Opal" reads "Mogambo". Good movie, classic cast of days sadly gone by.
John Ford packed his company off to Africa without thinking to invite Frank Sinatra, who was married to Ava Gardner at the time. Frank was livid. He might have trusted Ava on a foreign shoot, but he was taking no chances with Clark Gable around her. He paid his own First Class passage, and stuck to his wife like fly-paper for the duration of filming. Gable proved himself a gentleman around Ava, but had his hands full trying to escape the clutches of an infatuated, and much younger, Grace Kelly.
One of MGM's ads for MOGAMBO contains a gorilla, whose artwork is suspiciously reminiscent of RBBB's depictions of Gargantua.
