"This dog's name was "Window". Axel said he wandered into winter quarters one day and insisted on hanging around the elephants to a point they had to lock him in the bunk house when they went in for rehearsals. One day he crashed thru the bunk house window charged into the arena and plopped down in front of the ring so Hugo put him to work, hence the name. At one time they had a small dog named "Flea" that rode "Targa's" head during the act, snapped to the cloth headpiece.
