Elephant Menege #1

Do you remember when they used to call the elephant display "Menage"?
At one time that title was applied to the production number featuring three rings of liberty horses.
After the show moved indoors and used rubber matting the number of horses were reduced.

Although the derivation is from

the French word menagerie but I

learned early on that similar to

other "special" words in circus

lingo it's pronounced "MANedge"

& during my Big Bertha time it

was 1 of our 4 big productions

"Opening" "Spec" "Menage" "Finale"

Chic,

Thanks. We can research and study history, but what you're providing is the lore of the institution. Never written down because "everybody" knows it.
