Do you remember when they used to call the elephant display "Menage"?
At one time that title was applied to the production number featuring three rings of liberty horses.
After the show moved indoors and used rubber matting the number of horses were reduced.

Although the derivation is from
the French word menagerie but I
learned early on that similar to
other "special" words in circus
lingo it's pronounced "MANedge"
& during my Big Bertha time it
was 1 of our 4 big productions
For those few newcomers they were
"Opening" "Spec" "Menage" "Finale"
